There are cities we return to because we know exactly what to expect. And then there are cities that surprise us every time we visit.
Belgrade is one of them, a city renowned for its vibrant energy, warm hospitality, outstanding cuisine, and conversations that last far longer than planned. Yet it is also a city in constant transformation, always revealing a new side of itself.

For travelers from across the region, Belgrade has long been a favorite destination for year-round city breaks. A stroll through Kalemegdan Fortress, along Knez Mihailova Street, the bohemian charm of Skadarlija, the grandeur of the Temple of Saint Sava, the riverside escapes of Ada Ciganlija, and the timeless atmosphere of Zemun are places visitors return to time and again.
Today, however, there’s another reason to rediscover the Serbian capital.
A New Face of the City Ahead of EXPO 2027
In 2027, Belgrade will host EXPO 2027, the Specialized World Expo, one of the world’s largest international events, bringing together countries, cultures, and visitors from across the globe. Nearly 140 countries have already confirmed their participation, and millions of visitors are expected between May 15 and August 15, 2027.
But the journey toward EXPO is about much more than counting down to a global event. It is already transforming Belgrade and inviting visitors to experience the city in a whole new light.
New public spaces, attractions, and cultural venues are reshaping everyday life while enriching the visitor experience. Alongside the new EXPO complex in Surčin, the national pavilions, accommodation for participants, and the National Stadium, numerous projects are being developed as a lasting legacy, creating vibrant new places for future generations to meet, explore, and enjoy.

Belgrade from a New Perspective
One of the capital’s newest landmarks is the Belgrade 360° Deck, a panoramic observation deck located on the 41st floor of Kula Belgrade, the tallest building in Serbia and the wider region.
From approximately 155 meters above the ground, visitors can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of the city, the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and Belgrade’s most recognizable landmarks. The journey to the top takes just 25 seconds, where interactive exhibits, observation telescopes, curated displays, a café, and immersive storytelling experiences offer visitors a fresh perspective on the city’s rich history and dynamic future.

A New Rhythm Along the Rivers
Belgrade’s rivers have always shaped the city’s identity, and in recent years the banks of the Sava and Danube have become some of its liveliest and most inviting destinations.
The Sava Promenade and Belgrade Waterfront have brought new energy to this part of the city, creating spaces for walking, recreation, socializing, dining, and simply enjoying life by the water.
Here, Belgrade seamlessly blends its iconic heritage with contemporary urban living.

A Culinary Journey: From Historic Taverns to Modern Food Districts
One of the reasons people keep returning to Belgrade is its exceptional food scene.
Traditional taverns still preserve authentic local flavors and the unmistakable atmosphere where lunch effortlessly turns into an afternoon of conversation. At the same time, an exciting new gastronomic scene continues to flourish.
Contemporary restaurants, chef-driven concepts, and innovative dining destinations showcase another side of the city. Hangar Food Market, located in a restored aircraft hangar in New Belgrade, brings together more than 30 restaurants serving cuisines from around the world. Meanwhile, Gastrošor, in Lower Dorćol, combines restaurants, bars, breweries, open-air spaces, and creative urban culture into one vibrant neighborhood.
From beloved traditional taverns to modern culinary districts, Belgrade offers new flavors with every visit.
Among the projects shaping the city’s creative future is Ložionica, an upcoming hub for the creative industries, while Expo Playground at the Belgrade Fairgrounds already offers visitors a taste of the energy and excitement building toward EXPO 202
More Than a Destination, A Place to Connect
EXPO 2027 marks an exciting new chapter in Belgrade’s evolution, yet what truly makes this city special remains unchanged.
It is the conversations that last longer than expected, evenings without a planned ending, familiar flavors, newly discovered places, and the feeling of being welcomed wherever you go.
For visitors from across the region, Belgrade has never been just another destination.
It has always been, and continues to be, a place where people come together.
