30 Years of Fine Dining Experience and Tradition

Having not yet visited Sector 10, follow these steps for a free upgrade.

In the shadow of towering mountains and amidst the gentle murmur of cascading waters, a culinary legacy thrives. For three decades, this picturesque restaurant has stood as a standard of excellence, weaving together the rich world of tradition and innovation.

Join us as we raise a glass to 30 years of culinary mastery at Ćatović’s Mills, where each meal is a testament to the enduring allure of this gastronomic gem.

    Authentic scenery

In this part of the bay, nature has been kind to the waters, which have given life to numerous families who had mills for wheat and olives.

When you try to imagine Morinj, think of some expressionist canvas. A place that is almost
unreal, yet resonates strongly with emotions.

Luka Berberovic, Morinj (oil on canvas, year)

As renowned Montenegrin artist Luka Berberović once mused, he could never paint the distant shores of Brazil, but the familiar scenes of his native Morinj—the sea, the fishermen, the citrus groves, and the majestic cypresses.

The tranquil surroundings have undoubtedly shaped the souls of its inhabitants, who have long shared their coastal way of life with curious visitors from afar.

Before it became a culinary haven, locals flocked to the Ćatović estate to grind wheat and press olives, keeping the ancient mills turning for over two centuries.

Just imagine the wealth of experience held by this rare piece of land, now enjoyed by visitors from across the globe in the modern confines of the restaurant.

The first foundations of a house are wine, bread, and oil.

Venture off the main road and follow the scent of fresh air as it slides along the riverbank, leading you to the secluded cove that cradles the restaurant. Cross weathered wooden bridges and pass by quaint stone houses to discover the old family mill, a relic of a bygone era.

When Lazar Ćatović opened the restaurant’s doors in the ’90s, he envisioned transforming this ancestral estate into a Mediterranean oasis—a sanctuary of hedonistic pleasures. And Why? Because then, as it is today, it was important for him to preserve a part of the tradition of the Boka Bay way of life—where life unfolds slowly, with peace and enjoyment of each day, sip, and bite.

At Ćatović’s Mills, the menu pays homage to Montenegro’s rich culinary heritage, showcasing fresh seafood from local waters, meats from nearby farms, and vibrant seasonal produce.

Picture yourself savoring a dish of locally sourced fish, seasoned with homemade spices and paired with green accompaniments and wine—a simple yet exquisite pleasure reminiscent of home-cooked meals from this region.

Guests particularly enjoy the restaurant’s exquisite wine selection, handpicked from the region’s finest vineyards. It’s a rare opportunity to acquaint oneself with unique products from local producers throughout the Adriatic.

And if you’re by any chance picky when it comes to olive oils, chances are you were lucky to be born somewhere in the Mediterranean. Believing that a few drops of oil can change the whole dining experience – you probably got passed though the family and there’s no help to it.

The good news however is that the restaurant is rich in olive oil selection, so whether you’re a connoisseur or seeking for some new tastes— here you have an excellent choice.

    The secret ingredient of success

All in all, time has allowed this restaurant to mature in its best form.

To that, as they say, they can mostly thank the perseverance and love invested by the people who throughout the time had the opportunity to be part of that collective.

However, if we were to look for some secret ingredient of success, we could narrow it down to a few things:

⭐ Strong vision and Leadership (from which there is no deviation, in any aspect, in the face of any challenges) The essence of this place is to provide the guest with a superior experience, and therefore, serious attention is paid to every single impression and detail.

⭐ Simplicity. In the offer, in the way of preparing food, in communication. In the way of life & way of enjoying food and drinks.

⭐ Need for personal improvement and innovation – Traveling in the off-season as a personal choice of inspiration & an opportunity to improve knowledge and the restaurant’s offer.

⭐ Family heritage: As an underlying motive that runs the business and keeps the promise for future generations.

Living in the Bay of Kotor is a skill few master, but at Ćatović’s Mills, that timeless art of living is preserved, offering respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Here you’ll quickly realize this place is not merely about the food, but the entire experience of dining on the verdant terrace with friends or family. Not only that, this amazing konoba (local restaurant) is designed and devoted to intimate moments of indulgence.

As Ćatović’s Mills embark on their next chapter, we wish them a happy anniversary with many more years of success, fueled by their passion for preserving the values that make this restaurant truly extraordinary!
