Imagine yourself coming from a small village in a developing country like Montenegro, after getting an education at the University of Economics and spending your life in an urban environment, which is completely different from where you grew up. Most people would choose a modern way of living, especially knowing that developing countries have problems in keeping a healthy and growing economy in villages and the periphery of towns and cities. Every rule has an exception, and in this case, it’s a man with a vision and, I dare say, a great amount of courage.
Driven by the belief that Montenegro has a unique and high-quality product, this is how Miljanic Farm started its own path. Creating a product, running a business – with all its challenges, it gives a special feeling of success, creation, and purpose, especially when it also carries an impact on the environment in which you live. And that’s the story behind Miljanic Farm because not only does it deliver high-quality standardized products, but it is also about including the local community from a small village in Montenegro in a successful business that is spreading outside the borders of their small, yet beautiful country.
Miljanic Farm was founded as a family business. Having expanded their capacities, they joined the company with a small team made up of locals from the surrounding area. Modern and traditional – these are the two words that best describe the operations of this Farm. Products that preserve the traditional recipe, produced in conditions that deliver a nutritionally high-quality product, but with the control of modern protocols that monitor food safety not only according to Montenegrin standards but also European ones – considering that these products have stood out on the international market as well.
Miljanic Farm’s products can be found on the German, Norwegian, Swedish, and soon Luxembourg markets. It is often the case that domestic producers cannot or are not sufficiently trained to meet all the food safety criteria of foreign markets, but Miljanic Farm is a pioneer here as well, as the first exporter of dairy products to the EU market in Montenegro.

Miljanic Farm is located near the highway Herceg Novi – Trebinje – Nikšić, which makes it easily accessible, considering that it is located 20 kilometers from the second-largest city in Montenegro, Nikšić, but still far enough from the city, where you can enjoy the mountain air and property that covers 96 hectares.
Some of the products that you can find in better-stocked markets in Montenegro, but also in the online store on the farm’s website, are yogurt and whey from goat’s milk, goat’s and cow’s cheese in olive oil, sheep’s cheese, cheeses with the addition of herbal spices such as rosemary and paprika. If you are among the gastronomic enthusiasts who like to try authentic and unique products, Farm Miljanic produces goat cheese from the bag that was sent in the past as a diplomatic gift to the rulers of foreign countries from the rulers of Montenegro.
Goat cheese from the bag is matured for 120 days in the skin of the lamb, which gives the cheese a spicy taste. The firm consistency and precisely determined percentage of salt enable safe and long ripening. At numerous fairs and competitions, the so-called “Lider” cheese – semi-hard goat cheese is one of their best-reviewed products. The cheese that won the title of the best in the region at the fair in Novi Sad, worthy of being at the reception of Prince Charles from England, is something you certainly want to try. What makes it special is the ripening process, which is carried out on wooden shelves, as well as the quality of goat’s milk produced in clean, mountain conditions.
In addition to top-quality domestic products, the Farm is also open to visitors. In the mountainous environment of the Farm, you can look after the herd with approachable owners and shepherds, learn to prepare homemade dishes according to special traditional recipes, ride horses, see how the cheeses are made, try all the cheeses they make or just simply and spontaneously enjoy a mountain walk in the fresh air while enjoying homemade food.
At the heart of Miljanic Farm’s success lies its commitment to preserving Montenegro’s rich cultural heritage while embracing cutting-edge agricultural techniques. From artisanal cheeses crafted using age-old recipes to nutrient-rich dairy products sourced from the finest local ingredients, each offering reflects the farm’s dedication to quality and authenticity.
